Claims Conference funding for Austrian Holocaust survivors
The Holocaust Survivor Support Program receives funding for Austrian Holocaust survivors throughout Australia. This emergency assistance program comes from a settlement with the Austrian government, which was negotiated by the Claims Conference and it is allocated toward emergency assistance for services and expenses. Austrian funding is received for calendar year and confirmed at the beginning of each year.
All clients need to be assessed for Austrian funding eligibility. The eligibility criteria for Austrian emergency assistance differs from the criteria for other services funded by the Claims Conference grants. A client’s eligibility to receive services funded through this grant is based on client’s status as a Jewish Austrian Holocaust survivor, client’s financial status and client’s need for emergency services.
