Be the difference. Fulfil the Mitzvah!
Jewish Care's B'nei Mitzvah Giving is designed for young Jewish adults residing in Victoria who are celebrating their Bar or Bat Mitzvah.
When you choose to celebrate your Bar or Bat Mitzvah with Jewish Care, by asking your guests to donate in lieu of gifts, you will also have the opportunity to complete 5 hours of volunteering at Jewish Care to see first-hand how their donations can help those in our community who are most in need.
Volunteer hours
The 5 hours of volunteering is specifically designed to be meaningful and meet the needs of a 12-13 year old. Volunteer hours are completed on a Sunday at a Jewish Care location.
How do I inform my guests?
It is customary to identify that the Bar/Bat Mitzvah participant has requested a donation to Jewish Care in lieu of gifts on the invitation.
We make the process of donating easy for guests by building a specific event fundraising page with your name. For example, jewishcare.org.au/Jacobbarmi. Your page can carry any personal message you wish to convey to your guests and you can also include a photo.
Once your event page has been built, we provide you with the page URL which you can print on your invitations. Your guests then go to that page and donate.
Where does the donated money go?
All funds donated to B’nei Mitzvah Giving go towards Jewish Care’s social justice programs which do not attract government funding. These programs include financial aid, employment and training, housing support, counselling, disability respite and other needed community support services.
