Bill Appleby CEO Contract Extended to 2021

The President of Jewish Care Victoria, Mike Debinski, yesterday announced that the Board has confirmed that it has extended the contract of Chief Executive Officer Bill Appleby until the end of 2021.

Bill Appleby joined Jewish Care Victoria in 2010 and has led the organisation through significant policy, social and industrial change.

"We are delighted that Bill will continue to lead our organisation," said Mr Debinski. "Bill has now directed Jewish Care through two important strategic planning processes. He is an empathic, diligent and inspirational leader who is well respected not only within government and industry, but throughout the Jewish community.

I am certain that his vision to set in place the infrastructure and programs for our community for the next 50 years will be reflected upon in the future as having been a significant period in the history not only of our organisation but the Jewish community as a whole."

Mr Debinski added, "The Board of Jewish Care is thrilled that Bill will remain with the organisation for another three and a half years. As the organisation gears up to mark its 170th year of support for the Victorian Jewish community, it is also undertaking the largest set of building projects in the community's history. These developments including the purchase of the historic Montefiore site on St Kilda Road and the stage one development of a new 9 storey, 156 room residential aged care centre".

Bill Appleby said that "It's been a privilege to lead this amazing organisation since 2010.  I am delighted to be afforded the opportunity to continue to lead through this dynamic period to the end of 2021.  We have just crystallized our new 3 year strategic plan - 'Transforming for our Future' and are well underway with our once in a generation capital renewal program; so it's a critical time in the history of this organisation. I look forward to continuing to work with the JCV Board, our staff, our donors, our volunteers and the broader Victorian Jewish family to build a healthy, resilient and inclusive community for all".
