Jewish Care's response to the latest Victorian COVID-19 outbreak

31 December 2020

Jewish Care Victoria is taking all necessary precautions regarding the latest COVID-19 outbreak in line with recommendations from the Victorian Aged Care Response Centre.

Out of an abundance of caution, Jewish Care is restricting visitation access to our aged care homes, our Disability Respite Centre and supported accommodation. Restricted access will be put in place from 5pm tonight, Thursday 31 December 2020 until further notice. Restricted access will apply to all visitors except in exceptional circumstances for medical or end of life support.

In addition to restricting visitation, face shields will once again become mandatory for all Jewish Care staff in our homes and disability services.

Jewish Care understands that this is a dynamic situation and will continue to be vigilant to ensure that our highest priorities remain the health and safety of our elders, clients, staff, families and volunteers. We will continue to deliver excellent care and services to the best of our ability under these ever-changing circumstances.

We will be continually reviewing the evolving situation and advise elders, clients, staff and their families of any changes.

Our actions, as always, are based on the up-to-date information provided by the Department of Health and the Victorian Government regarding COVID-19.

We remind you it is critical that you:

  • get tested if you have any signs or symptoms and isolate;
  • regularly wash or sanitise your hands;
  • wear a mask indoors and where you cannot socially distance;
  • always use QR, sign in or other methods of recording your movements so that should you become exposed you can be rapidly identified and help stop the potential movement of the virus;
  • report any concerns immediately.

If you are adversely affected by COVID-19 and need support, please contact the COVID-19 Helpline on 8517 5555, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm, or visit www.jewishcare.org.au/COVID19helpline
