25 November 2020
Jewish Care has developed a coffee cup campaign in support of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
Wednesday 25 November marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and the beginning of the 16 Days.
With messages that encourage help-seeking and bystander action, the cups were distributed to cafés across the Jewish community in the lead-up to the campaign.
“Cafés play a vital role in bringing people together, and campaigns like these send a clear message that family violence is unacceptable in our community,” said Cassandra Barrett, Program Manager of Healthy Communities.
“This year’s campaign is focused on speaking up and creating a dialogue. Silence breeds violence – and that’s been particularly true during COVID-19. We hope that seeing these cups will encourage customers to be alert to the signs of family violence and to reach out for help if something doesn’t feel right in their relationship.”
Jewish Care would like to express our sincere thanks to all of the cafés who have supported the campaign and helped to spread this important message. Please show your support by ordering a takeaway coffee during the 16 Days.
