Israeli Ambassador visits Jewish Care

22 March 2022

Jewish Care was extremely honoured to welcome His Excellency, Mr Amir Maimon, Ambassador of the State of Israel to Australia to our Holckner Family Senior Living Precinct in Windsor.

"My visit to Jewish Care Victoria was quite moving and emotional, the services provided by them truly represent the meaning to the phrase Kol yisrael arevim zeh bazeh, meaning all of Israel are responsible for each other. This phrase is the basis of the notion of communal responsibility for the well-being of other Jews. I would like to share my deepest appreciation for the support provided by Jewish Care Victoria to our community," said His Excellency Mr Amir Maimon, Ambassador of the State of Israel to Australia.

“We feel extremely privileged that Ambassador Maimon visited Jewish Care and saw first-hand the impact of Jewish Care’s services and support for those most in need in our Victorian Jewish community,” said Adjunct Professor Alan Lilly, Chief Executive Officer.

“Ambassador Maimon’s deep connection to assist Jewish people throughout the world is evident throughout his very accomplished career. His passion for acknowledging seniors and holocaust survivors was exemplified when he played a song from Avihu Medina. The song is based on the powerful prayer, Psalm 71:9, recited during the High Holy Days with the words, Do not cast me off in old age; do not abandon me as my strength fails. These values of respect for our elders are in perfect alignment with the vital work of Jewish Care,” said Lisa Kennett, President.

“Jewish Care looks forward to maintaining a strong relationship and dialogue with Ambassador Maimon and plans are already underway to host a community event with the Embassy,” continued Lisa Kennett.

His Excellency, Amir Maimon tours Jewish Care’s Residential Home Windsor.
